Where does LinkedIn cut a post with "…see more"?
LinkedIn truncates on whichever limit it hits first: roughly 210 characters, or 3 lines. A post with early line breaks folds much sooner than its character count suggests, which is why line-break-heavy posts get cut in the middle of the hook.
Why does my short post still get cut off?
Line breaks. Three short lines can fold before 100 characters, because the line limit is reached before the character limit. Delete some line breaks. It often helps more than deleting a sentence.
Does the fold matter for reach?
It matters the most. If the first few words do not convince your reader, they will simply scroll away without ever opening your otherwise good post. Optimizing what's above the fold is essential for reach.
